Although probably categorized somewhere in the instrume(n)tal fusion camp, Fibonacci Sequence have a very fresh feel to it and never gets too difficult for my liking. Fibonacci Sequence blend elements of prog with classical, folk and jazz giving the listener something to think about. The songs are so mature and detailed that they reveal new shades and details with every repeated listen, but neither overtaxes the listener with breaks nor scare away the progster by too straight song structures. I have a really hard time pointing out single songs as they are very compact and on an equal level. The playing is amazing, with some intricate parts in places, and no obvious flaws. All the musicians have a warm, atmospheric and very typical progressive sound on their instruments, but their playing never go into very virtuosi solo-passages as the songs on the album are more based in strong and structured melodies than instrumental exercises. The way in which the songs are put together, the flow of the album from passage to passage, from song to song, is rather breathtaking and quite rewarding to the listener, well worth recommending. Well conceived, sparkling, occasionally bombastic and finally uplifting, Numerology is a staggering masterpiece of an amazing instrumental US prog band.
Fibonacci Sequence have that certain x-factor that should bring them a wider attention. In conclusion, this is a distinct, top-quality album of dark, melodic, progressive metal that is executed to a level that would put many long-established bands to shame. Superb
For fans of Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Cacaphony, Bozzio, Levin and Stevens, Camel,…
