Who’s this I thought. I’ve never before heard of this guy. No wonder, since Mr. Roberts only released one album in 1982 titled ‘all Dressed Up’, and that was it. For the next 20 odd years he did write music for other artists though. Apparently his one and only album contained some great West Coast rock, and was a highly sought after collectible.
Now, with that much time between the first album and this one, and with all the changes and hypes – if some very short lived ones – in the music industry, what to tell about this album.
I find it a very good effort, even if I’ve never been that much into real West Coast music, preferring AOR, hard rock etc. But this album glides in effortless. Maybe it’s because it’s a tad more AOR-ish. At times I gets reminisced of Tot or even Chicago. The album originally was released in 2008, but only in Japan, and since it soon became out of print, it was hard to find a copy of it. What a chance for us that Avenue Of Allies picked it up, and released it again.
A very good comeback effort by Mr. Roberts, and even while I’m not that into West Coast, I’m sure this album will be played again on sunny days while driving around, because that’s just the music that I like to play on such moments.
