Falconer is a Swedish power metal band from Mjölby. The band was formed in 1999 by guitarist Stefan Weinerhall after the band Mithotyn dissolved. The band has been around for quite a while now and released 6 albums already, and now add number 7 to that list.
The first thing that noticed me when listening to this album is that it’s not a typical power metal band, but offers and shows so much more. It has various elements like folk metal vibes, melodies, blast beats and even trash metal riffs here. But it doesn’t end there, the album van best be described as a journey with heights and lows (slower songs and faster heavier ones that follow each other in both ways).
This really is a promising band. However there is one thing that does bother me quite a bit. All the vocals on the entire album are in Swedish. Nothing against the language (except I don’t speak or understand any of it) as a couple of songs like that can be gun to listen to, however an entire album can be quite boring as you can’t understand anything of it like me. The worst thing about that is that the songs have a high “sing a long” factor, but I’m not going to learn Swedish just for this album.
