Furor Gallico is an Italian pagan metal band and was formed in 2007 from an idea of Melissa (bass, who left and got replaced by Mac), Ste (guitar) and Becky (celtic harp). early they met Pagan (voice) and Marco (Drums). the band composed its first songs and then the line up grew up by the meeting with Oldhan (guitar) and Laura (violin).
The band did release a demo, but only now released it’s debut album (self-titled, self-produced and self-distributed) last month. It’s a folk/pagan metal band so you can expect ancient legends and stories about Romans and Celt warriors. But then in a metal jacket giving it some solo’s, screams, grunts and distortion, however this is just to give it a bigger value as the highlight of the album still the pagan part is.
Lots of melodies, different old school (very old old school) instruments and here and there the metal elements making it complete. Definitely not a bad album, but if you’re not into this kind of music I can imagine that some people will think that every song sounds the same and does get boring after a while. Real fans of the genre will probably know better bands and better albums.
