Review: CD

Manchester-based Ingested return with The Surreption, three years after their debut Surpassing The Boundaries Of Human Suffering. Since then, Ingested went on tour with notorious acts like Dying Fetus, Decrepit Birth, Origin, Black Dahlia Murder and more of these sweet creators of lullabies-for-the-Dead. And indeed, this album brings a comparable kind of sweet love songs…
Overpowering, colossal and persuasive, in spite of a total lack on open-mindedness. Is it a narrow-minded thought? Of no importance, ‘cos only the quality counts, and this one is acceptable. I’ve heard better stuff, more than once, with more variety between the songs. And I know bands that sound so much more ‘natural’ instead of this somewhat artificial approach. Yet again, it might please Grindeath-freaks that appreciate the pure essence of blood-thirsty Death Metal with a slightly catchy inlay.
Including guest vocals by Despised Icon’s Alexandre Erian and Martyr Defiled’s Matt Jones. Mixed by Mick ‘Irrumator’ Kenney (Benediction, Anaal Nathrakh, Bleeding Through).

75/100
