CD REVIEW Neal Morse

Band : Neal Morse
Album title : Testimony 2
Label : Inside Out Music
Distributor : EMI
Release Date : 23/05/2011
Release : CD

After leaving Spock’s Beard at a moment that their success was at it’s apogee, that is shortly after the release of ‘Snow’, Neal Morse embarked upon another project, and released his first album in 2003, called ‘Testimony’.  This was the beginning of a new, and prolific career, releasing album upon album, both studio and live-albums, as well as some DVD’s.. When listening to this album I was impressed. Morse manages to combine it’s Christian belief and messages, with some decent progressive rock music. Besides some pieces reminding me of the old Spock’s Beard material, but I also get vintage Genesis, Kansas, even some hints of Pink Floyd come through.
The album consists of two CD’s, so if you want to listen this out in one go, you’ve got to take your time, cause the two CD’s together come in at some two hours, give or take a few minutes.
Highlight for me is the ‘Seeds Of Gold’ track, which is almost 26 minutes long, but it’s just such an amazing song, that really shows of the writing and musical talents of Neal.

I know not everybody will like this, but if you liked Spock’s Beard, then you’ll surely like this.

95/100
