Vanderbuyst is a Dutch band, and has already earned a very good live reputation.  Thus far they have only released a 3 track EP in 2008, so this is their first full CD.  Central figure in this band is ex Powervice guitarist Willem Verbuyst.

Their musical style is inspired by a lot of 70’s and 80’s bands, and is not restricted to just one style of music.  You can tell these guys were inspired by bands like Rainbow, UFO, Deep Purple and others. So do not expect some modern stuff, no this is more classical rock.

The guitar work on this album is outstanding, you just have to listen to the opening song and you know what you’re in for.  The weak link in this band are the vocals by Jochem Jonkmans.  Not that he’s that bad a singer, he reminds me a bit of Phyl Lynott, but with a better vocalist this album could have turned out even better.
It’s a bit sad there are only seven tracks on this album, from which one is a cover of a classic UFO song ‘Rock Bottom’, a cover which is played rather well, and can survive the comparison with UFO’s own version.

Since this is a style of music you don’t hear that often anymore, one to look out for if you’re into this kind of stuff.
