Green Day is a commercial punk band from California that consists of Billie Joe Armstrong (lead vocals and guitar as well as the occasional harmonica), Mike Dirnt (born Michael Ryan Pritchard; bass, backing vocals), and TréCool (born Frank Edwin Wright III; drums, percussion, backing vocals). But since their sixth album the band has included close friend Jason White as a back-up guitarist for live shows.
The band has been around for some time now and have sold over 65 million records worldwide and 24.639 million in the US alone + won Grammy’s and other numerous awards. So to celebrate their successful carrier the band made a compilation live album.
The record baptized “Awesome As F**k” counts 17 live tracks covering the band’s lifespan and has a live DVD disc included. People that have seen them live know what to expect from this record; great music, great ambiance and lots of interaction with the crowd. And if it helps, this is one of the very few live albums where the sound does sound good on. The only downside for me are the then thousand screaming little girls that do get annoying after a while.
