Band : Rise Against Holy smokes...with a lot of reviews still to be done of albums which are already out on the street, I'm forced to speed up proceedings and give the next 20 or so reviews that are coming up a little less attention, article-wize. In other words, less words, more reviews! Little to be said about this classy socio-politically influenced Melodic Hardcore Punk Rock act. A synopsis of the band's history can be found in the review of Endgame's predecessor, Appeal To Reason, posted 26/10/2008. For updates, check either the band's page on Wikipedia (actually, that page is highly recommendable for the fan's fact-finding needs on the album itself as well) their own website (www.) riseagainst.com, or (www.) myspace.com/riseagainst. If you're already a fan of the band I will hardly need persuading you to go and buy the album (you probably already did that), and if you hadn't heard any material by the band yet, I suggest you check out the band's Myspace (only samples of 2 of the new album's tracks, but of one the band also posted the video clip – there's quite a few older videos available as well). At the moment the band is roaming through Northern America, and midway July they go visit Australia for a couple of shows. No idea yet whether Europe is on the agenda later in the year. Positive news is that the band's split 7-inch single with Punk icons Face To Face has finally surfaced on Folsom Records (check the band's Myspace's blogs for a link to order the collectable online). 90/100 Tony. |
