CD REVIEW The Poodles

Band : The Poodles
Album title : Performocracy
Label : Frontiers Records
Distributor : Rough Trade Benelux.
Release Date : 15/04/2011
Release : CD

They only formed in 2005, but since then they’ve released no less than 3 studio albums, and with this album ‘Performocracy’  they again make a strike.
Now they might look like a glam metal band from the eighties, but the music they play tends to be more melodic hard rock.   They sure know how to write a catchy tune, that’s for sure.  I personally find that most of the songs immediately catch your ear, and the choruses are sticking to you.

Besides the fact that the songs are well written, they’re also well performed, especially the vocal performance by Jakob Samuel.  I cannot immediately tell who he can be compared with, but closest seems to be the late Steve Lee.
It’s very hard to pick out a favorite track on this album.  The songs are diverse, yet each song has strong elements, which makes this over all a very good album.  The year is still young, but this is one of my favorite albums up to now.
