CD REVIEW Black Haven

Band: Black Haven
Title: Harmbringer
Label: Hypertension Records
Distribution: Hammerheart Records
Release date: March 28th 2011
Review: (M)CD

Black Haven hail from Ghent, Belgium, and were able to have their debut mixed by Hein Devos of Amenra- and Hitch-fame. The mastering of Harmbringer, by the way, was done by Alan Douches (think The Bridal Procession, Nile, Aborted, Nervecell, Eradication etc.). The eleven tracks clock less than half an hour, unfortunately. It’s a shame, because this extremely powerful and hammering mixture of Sludge, Hardcore and Groove-Death sounds refreshing. Tragedy, The Hope Conspiracy, Discharge, High On Fire, Entombed, The Atlas Moth, Motörhead, Integrity, Converge, Black Sabbath and Mastodon, it’s this kind of shit you can expect. …not as good as most of them, yet convincing sufficiently.

82/100
