Lemuria is an indie rock band from the states and was formed in 2004. by drummer/vocalist Alex Kerns, guitarist/vocalist Sheena Ozella, and bassist Adam Vernick ( whose duties were finally taken over later by Max Gregor after trouble finding a good bass player). The band quickly found it selves a nice spot in the underground scene where today it is still very hard to find previous records of this band.
Those few that did get an album now what to expect from this new record (witch is their second studio album). Slow ballads, small amounts of soft rock distorted but all gathered under one big hippy vibe where vocals (and lyrics of course) are central. All the other instruments seem to work around these to make them come out even more.
But to be honest, they don’t succeed with this approach on every song as some of the tunes lack strength due to their attempt at experimenting. Overall this isn’t a bad record but I doubt that this CD will find many new homes. Don’t get me wrong, they have the tunes, even those that lack power to distinguish themselves from other songs. But the whole psychotic hippy vibe will scare away a lot of people.
