Band : Victimizer For those who don't know the band just yet, Victimizer is a Dutch death metal band with a blackened thrash twist. Whether you like their music or not, they just don't care. This has always been their motto going all the way back to the beginning of the band's existence in 1996. Despite the expectations, lots of people have anxiously been waiting for this new release of Victimizer and of course, after a long time of waiting comes a long title. Tales Of Loss And New Found Serenity is the newborn child of this Dutch death metal gang. What's immediately clear when you lend your ears to this record is the welcome variation the genre needs to make a band stand out. Catchy melodies are present and they are quite recognisable at the same time, which is an excellent thing. It just makes it all a bit easier to digest. Just to set a clear example: A Psalm to the Fallen is much more melodic than a track such as Past To Eulogy, which is simply set to destroy it all: your ears, your brain, everything. Also the fact that the vocals are very brutal and energetic on the one hand, but also very comprehensible, makes this a bone hard though convincing record. 86/100 Tim |
