Dawn of Ashes used to be an industrial metal oriented band. The sound we hear clearly finds its origin in extreme metal, but the grooves remain incredibly catchy and danceable. Fortunately, it are mainly the drums that make this album more convincing and especially more brutal, something you’ve just got to enjoy. According to me, with Genocide Chapters, Dawn of Ashes should be admired because of its remarkably high professionalism, even when it’s going so incredibly fast. You still don’t have a clue what this band is all about? Well, let’s put it this way: you take some wonderful bands such as Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. You cut them short just a little bit and you shake the result with a mix of horror and ancient cultures and you’re done.
Despite all of this, Dawn of Chapters is capable of that much more according to me! They have everything what it takes to cause a huge friction (read: explosion) in metal land, but they don’t seem to be able to find a lot of variation in their songs. On Genocide Chapters, all magic seems to be created in the same old cauldron. Especially the extreme vocals are really tiresome at some points. Dawn of Ashes should honestly invest in variation and diversity and just then, they might become quite likable for the average metal fan.

60/100
