Review: CD
London, UK-based formation Eradication debut on Siege Of Amida, one of the most strongly growing labels within the extreme Metal scene lately, and the first full length album, Dreams Of Reality, produced by Mike Curtis at CDS (Postmortem Promises, Forever Never, Days Of Betrayal), lasts for almost forty minutes.
The result is a mixture of melody and aggression. The tracks are energetic, mixing (Swedish-influenced) Thrash and Death Metal with elements from American Modern Metal(core) and trans-European Extreme Metal. There certainly is a comparability with neighbours of Sylosis, a band Eradication went on tour with in the past (it was their gig with Sylosis in their hometown of Colchester that convinced Siege Of Amida Records to sign Eradication soon after, by the way).
This stuff is up-tempo, rhythmic, dynamic, ripping, and all of it comes with a really impressing sound. But what about the compositions? Haven’t I heard it all before? A thousand times? Those guitar solos, that catchy rhythm, the use of both grunts and screams, the interaction with universal influences, the tempo-changes, the modern and powerful production, the well-thought balance between emotions and will-to-crush, the necessary (?) injection of keyboards and acoustic guitars, and so on, damn, this is too well-prepared, and therefore it lacks of sérieux. These guys can handle their instruments, that’s for sure, but I’m afraid their writing capacities are not the ones purists will adore – another audience probably?
73/100
