Review : CD
I never really paid any real attention to And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, cannot really say why, but their latest Tao Of The Dead is my first contact with the Texas band. And I have to say that I now can understand, why people like their music.
To make it short, The Trail Of Dead combine temporary and timeless indie rock with Rush / Yes / Rolling Stones/ Sonic Youth -influences melodies and vocal-arrangements, but a lot more accessible as the roughly comparable Coheed And Cambria. who never had been to my liking because of their rather own akward melodies and abstract vocal-passages To filter out other influences is very hard, maybe because I never had really listened to their stuff before...
If you want to check them out, take “Pure radio cosplay” and the space-kraut prog piece de resistance “Tao of the dead part two” which you won't get out of your head after the first listen...
So who could imagine to like this mixture, should get an enjoyable album in Tao Of The Deadwhich will lead you beyond the mainstream and which you haven't heard dozens of times before!
