One of the most danceable musical genres in punk and metal must be rockabilly, but don’t just call The Creepshow another rockabilly or psychobilly band. They are far more than that.
Formed in the darkest alleys of Canada in Toronto, Ontario in 2005, The Creepshow gathered to write powerful songs with balls, guts and style. The most remarkable aspect about The Creepshow is the front lady Sarah ‘Sin’ Blackwood. Next to playing the guitar, she has a full-time job singing the lyrics, dealing with addiction, anxiety and also love … gone terribly wrong. They got their inspiration from b-movies and early horror films and this definitely was a wonderful subject to write songs about.
Their debut album was released in 2006, but if you compare that album, which was called Sell Your Soul, to their latest release, They All Fall Down, you can easily say that The Creepshow went through some transformation and evolution. Each song really stands on its own and they are a real blessing to listen to. This is the perfect album to drive a car to with the window open and sunglasses on. In the second song you can also hear the presence of an organ, this makes me think of The Aggrolites.
All the songs are very up-tempo, but with Sleep Tight, Sarah ‘Sin’ Blackwood definitely proves that she has a fantastic voice and that the band is very flexible.
They All Fall Down is a real feel-good record in which The Creepshow proves that sad subjects can easily result in happy tunes.
