CD REVIEW Withered

Band: Withered
Album title: Dualitas
Label: Prosthetic Records
Distributor: Prosthetic Records
Release date: 26/10/2010

Prosthetic Records has once again released a brilliant black metal album. This time, it is the American Withered who gives an attempt to blow our ears.
Already from song one, Extinguished With The Weary, you hear the fast shredding of the riffs, the hard blasting of the drums and the deeply growling of the vocal chords. This song immediately sets the tone for more. The second song, Residue In The Void, starts more down-tempo, but after some minutes (yes indeed, the song lasts more than seven minutes) the ‘normal’ black metal pace is back.
Luckily, we are treated with an interlude to make sure the listeners can catch a well necessary breath.
My personal favorite is the fifth song, From Shadows. Just because it keeps true to the black metal genre, but still there is some more melody in this one, which I really appreciate from this band.
Dualitas is one of the best black metal albums I’ve heard in a while and perhaps they even set the tone by releasing a melodic black metal album. Withered proves that it’s not only Norway to export great black metal music, but that even some lads from Atlanta can curse the world with the darkest tunes this planet has even witnessed.

86/100
