CD REVIEW Royal Republic

Band : Royal Republic
Album title : All Because Of You
Label : Roadrunner Records
Distributor : Roadrunner Records – Concrete Web Records
Release Date : 29/04/2011
Release : 5 Track EP

After writing a short review for the single, I couldn’t do otherwise than review the EP as well.  At 5 tracks this might give a better idea of what these guys are capable of.

The EP confirms my judgment based on the single. It’s punkrock, but with a twist.  For instance the second track on the EP ‘President’s Daughter’ made me think of Madness, but with an overdose of vitamins or Viagra.
What has to be said is that, more or less like their ancestors from the real punk groups, all songs are rather short, ranging from just over a minute and a half to just over three minutes.  But since these songs are that packed with raw power, longer songs might have been too much of the goodies.

This genre is not really my cup of tea, but nevertheless for once I found it very amusing to listen to, and review.

75/100

It’s hard to judge a band on just one track, but if this what Royal Republic stands for or is capable of doing, it’s quite a nice try.  It’s not so much rock or not even rockabilly, it’s more some kind of punkrock. Short, but with balls.

I’d hate to give them a rating judged on just this one track, so that’s why there is none.
