Band : Judas Priest To start this review, be warned, there are two versions of this compilation. One is a simple CD, containing 19 tracks spanning their career between 1977 and 1992, which I received to review. The other one is a more luxurious box, containing 20 CD singles, featuring no fewer then 52 tracks. I think Judas Priest does not need a long introduction. They are one of the founding fathers of the NWOBHM, abbreviation that stands for New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. But they’ve at many occasions balanced on the verge between heavy metal, and more popular, more commercial music. For instance the very first song featuring on this album is a song written by Joan Baez. Or just take songs like ‘You”ve Got Another Thing Coming’ or ‘Living After Midnight’, which you could call radio-friendly songs. If, like me, you’ve followed the career of Judas Priest almost from the beginning, the simple single CD version is not worth buying it, since you’ve probably already got all of these songs. If you’re a novice though, and want to learn more about the Priest then this CD is a welcome release. 85/100 Erik Morren. |
