The music Visions Of Atlantis make, can best be described as a mix between symphonic epic metal à la Stratovarius or even Rhapsody Of Fire, and gothic metal à la Within Temptation (although that’s not 100 % gothic metal if you ask me), but rather penching towards the epical genre.

So either you like it, or you hate it I’d say.  I personally like this a lot.  The fact that they’ve got a new vocalist under the form of Greek lady Maxi Nil has not changed their music in great ways.  It still is music that’s quite bombastic, with big keyboards.  Not that the guitars have been left out, that’s surely not the case, but guitars are note the prominent feature.
Although Visions Of Atlantis boasts two vocalists, one female, one male, Maxi  and Mario Plank rarely are dueling or singing together in the same song.  It’s rather one song where Maxi sings, and the next is for Mario.  What I’d call a strong point is the fact that Maxi does not constantly sings with an opera-like voice, unlike some other female vocalists in this genre.

My conclusion: it’s not an earth shattering album, but it’s not bad either.
