Band: Baaba Kulka Baaba Kulka Is a Polish band that’s named after the front woman. The band can best be defined as alternative but have worked on and released an Iron Maiden cover record. First off id like to address them first by saying not everyone speaks polish so please work on your websites otherwise I can’t find information about you, others won’t find information about you, you wont get famous or noticed. That said, lets talk music wise. Like I said they cover Iron Maiden, a job and risk many take but only a select few achieve at doing it good. Keeping in mind that this is an alternative band, I’m glad it’s not a band that tries to do it just the same as their idols, copying every little detail but in the end fail at doing a good job. But then when you listen to this record you kind of feel sad they didn’t. There are 2 kinds of songs on this record. You have a couple of songs that are interpreted in a nice lounge /jazz way. Good on their own, cover wise I have my doubt as you totally don’t recognize anything original in it and only hardcore Maiden fans will recognize lyrics. The other types of songs are alternative. And with alternative I mean really experimental. In the worst way of interpretation possible as I struggled to listen to their electro like slowed down version of "Number Of The Beast". Hardest job ever listening to the end of that song. I’m not a big fan of this record. The songs that do sound good are pretty cool but are the minority on this album, the other songs are just butchered. I don’t know if this band only does covers or anything else, like I said, I don’t speak polish. 59/100 Jeroen. |
