Band: Human Zoo Human Zoo was formed in Germany in 2004 when singer Thomas Seeburger, keyboarder Zarko Mestrovic and guitarist Ingolf Engler got together with a similar goal, to make good rock music. In autumn 2005 Markus Ratheiser (Glenmore) on the bass, Boris Matakovic (Subway) on the saxophone and Kevin Klimesch on the drums completed the band. Yes that’s right, a dude that plays saxophone in a Rock band. You either like that or you don’t, but to be honest the saxophone isn’t that well represented on this album, so the times it does appear it doesn’t feel extravagant or bizarre, but well placed. It gives a certain old school rock vibe, somewhat in the genre of Bon Jovi meets Gerry Rafferty with “Baker Street” but in a more modern version with more overdrive and a modern days production level. Probably not the best rock album out now, but to call this bad is a crime. It isn’t original either but it does sound fresh and different from your average everyday rock band either. And it’s there where the beauty of this album lies in. 86/100 Jeroen. |
