You could call Lionville a project rather than a band, since most of the inspiration (and songs) sprouted out of the mind of Mr. Stefano Lionetti, born and raised in Italy.  I’d say if you were, or still are into 80’s melodic rock then this is an album you’d ought to buy (yes I mean buy, not download – think of me as old-fashioned but I like going through the booklets and holding the album in my hand – besides by downloading you’re ruining the musical industry and stealing revenue from the artists and the record companies).

But now back to the review itself. Lionville’s music does remind me of Richard Marx, Boulevard, Toto.  As might be expected with 80’s styled AOR a lot of the songs are ‘love related’, dealing about relations, or broken up relations. And pure AOR this album surely is.  There might be a few tracks that sound a bit heavier, but it’s still very far from real hard rock. As a matter of fact some songs even have a West Coast influence.

If you’re into this kind of stuff, buy the album.  If you like it a bit harder, do give it a chance; there might be a time when you’re more into this easy-listening stuff.

85/100
