Band: Rival Sons Rival Sons is an American Blues rock band from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed somewhere around June 2008 when the line-up for Rival Sons was completed when singer-songwriter Jay Buchanan joined the band. Only a year later the band recorded and self-released their first album called Before The Fire. This record opened up several doors for the band such as: opening up for Alice Cooper and Kid Rock, the chance to support Judas Priest and a nice record deal. So the lads have achieved already a lot in a small window of time and for a non Metal/ Hard Rock / Shock Rock band. To give you a better idea of how they sound, I would say you can “compare“ (as far as that goes) with bands like Triggerfinger or Wolfmother with here and there a small hint of Led Zeppelin. The guys know their instrument and they know it well. Fun-to-listen-to music, as there isn’t a dull or less interesting song on this record. Even the slower songs sound good and intriguing. Definitely a kick ass album even though this is just their second album in the very short time span that the band exists. This truly is something anyone will enjoy, no matter what genre you prefer. 91/100 Jeroen. |
