Steak Number Eight is a Belgian band whose music is a combination of sludge metal, post rock and doom metal elements. The band got famous trough winning a local contest named Westtalent. A few months later the band won the famous Humo’s Rock Rally as youngest band in the history of this music competition. The combination of this victory, a killer demo and their skills (at that young age) was a winning combination as these got them the chance to play some major Belgian festivals.

A few years later, the band a bit more grown up returns with a full length album. For those who knew the band before can compare the overall picture of the new record with their hit song “Blood On Our Hands”. The difference however is their sound and the way they play. The band has grown up and become more mature, you can hear this definitely by the sound of the vocals and the record that this time makes way for more melodies than before. Unfortunately it does lack the same power and impact than their demo from a few years ago.
It may not be the same as it was, but for kids their age, they absolutely made a damn good record that fans and people who like Amen Ra, Isis and more of the same genre definitely will enjoy.

78/100
