Band: Across The Sun Hailing from Portland, Oregon, there is a band called Across The Sun that has been recording and touring for over seven years since their inception in 2004. Since then they have recorded and released three EPs during that time: 2006's This War, 2008's Storms Weathered and Pestilence & Rapture. That specific last one got them notice in the metal genre. The band consisting of: Brandon Davis, Shane "The Brain" Murray, Sam Hafer, Alan Ashcraft. Has been on tour for a long time but fans got excited when the word got out in 2010 that there was some work in progress about the new album. Taking their time paid off. It's an awesome record with lovely melodies, sweet piano licks, machine like riffing and has lots of parts where they build up to a big apotheosis. To be honest this record sounds like it could be from Killswitch Engage, but I mean that as a compliment. The only downside is that the guys still need to work on their sound as not everything blends in as one big package, for example the vocals and the guitars that sometimes sound like an old school video game. 70/100 Jeroen. |
