CD REVIEW Big Talk

Release date: 17/07/2011
Release: CD

Earlier this year, Epitaph released the first single from the debut album of Big Talk, the band around The Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. and Taylor Milne.
The first single, called Getaways, already sounded very promising, but actually, that song was only the tip of a huge iceberg. From the opening song, Katzenjammer, on you can already distinguish a very unique sound and energy coming from Big Talk and that same energy is extended to all the songs on the record: strong vocals, a catchy melody and tight guitar shredding; it's all there for the taking.
Under Water, the third song on the record, sounds very epic and it even has a classic rock touch to it. With The Next One Living and No Whiskey, the two-piece proves that they can also bring more down-tempo songs without losing its rock element. Of course, you couldn't call yourself a true rock band if you didn't sing about the ladies, whom they clearly haven't forgotten about in Girl At Sunrise.
Big Talk's self titled debut album is a feel good album with some powerful rock songs on it. You definitely aren't talking big if you say that this album sounds as tight as the tightest leather pants you can find in your nearby clothes' shop. Get your hands on this one, you won't regret it.
