Sepultura are back! Saying that the band are one of Graspop's favourites is sufficient enough to prove that they are on top of the mount of thrash metal. In 2010, the guys from Sepultura managed to demolish the Metaldome stage entirely and one year later, in 2011, they utterly destroyed the Marquee. The mainstage is ready for them and with their new album, Kairos, Sepultura really show how much they want to regain what they lost on the way. And they've come a long way.
Since we have to admit that, style-wise, Sepultura completely lost track a couple of years ago, they have finally returned to their true thrash metal roots, which is surely for the best! With Kairos, Sepultura are up to their twelfth studio album and for vocalist Derrick Green, it's number six.
As we're used of the band, their new album has become a well considered concept album. Kairos is all about the acts of mankind in time. The music is much easier to digest compared to the highly experimental previous album. With Spectrum, Relentless, Dialog and Mask, Kairos is full of strong, dynamic tracks with the title track as ultimate masterpiece.
With Kairos, Sepultura prove themselves to be still alive and kicking. Despite the band's age, thrash metal, an exquisite producer and a fantastic label is what's keeping Sepultura alive, fortunately enough!
