Band : Tank 86 Tank 86 is a relatively new instrumental band hailing from Holland and they are one of those cool discoveries that doesn't come along too often. The sound might be comparable to a cross between High On Fire, Karma To Burn, Mastodon, and maybe a dash of early Metallica (those tempo changes) For some reason they are far heavier than I was expecting and almost every song charges full-on ahead. I was also surprised by just how tight the playing is overall as they waste very little time in any of the eight tracks here. Cuts such as “Barrosphere”, “Apparat”, “Gottes krieger” with a guest solo by good old friend Tommi (Dozer) and “Infidel” offer the straightforward churning rhythmic punch filled with aggressive energy and fantastic guitarsoli. This album just smokes! The songwriting is catchy and contains loads of dynamics. The band knows when to slow it down to create a good song and when to speed it up. Everything a metalhead could want for a good 'ol headbanging fest! 93/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
