People always say that it used to be better in the old days, they say the same even on the subject of music when a rock ‘n roll band looked like a rock ‘n roll band, when it had a dangerous attitude, the sound, and many other typical things that seems to be different these days. The band Tornado felt the same way and wanted to go back to the 80’s for inspiration.
The band that consists of Superstar Joey Severance (Vocals), Michiel “Big Maaaan”Rutten (Lead Guitar), Daddy B (Lead Guitar), Johnny Wow (Bass) and Juhana “Starvin Marvin” Karlsson (Drums) take their trash/rock genre back to that era when it all was about the music, and actually do a pretty good job at it.
Massive and fast riffing, clean vocals, lots of bass and bombastic beats are the formula that the band uses to create their vibe. They succeed in making a awesome old school record, but however fail a bit in keeping it interesting till the end of the album. The beginning really appeals you, but the further the album progresses, you lose interest and then when you realize you were listening to music, you realize that 3 to 4 songs already have passed you by without noticing it.
I think the problem lies in the fact that the album doesn’t have that much catch parts you can sing along with. Not that that’s obligated, but it does make it harder to keep track of where you are in the song/album. Besides that, this is an awesome attempt at recreating the 80’s sound and style.
92/100
