The three female protagonists of the following short story (Jordan Martin, Joanna Grennen, and Jorda Bates) first came together at a music workshop at school in their hometown Stourbridge (situated some 20 km West from Birmingham).

Thus amazingly good was the chemistry between the girls, both personally and musically, that soon they baffled their visiting tutors...whom were wise enough to put Helium Records to the wize of this raw gem in the making. Since then, the threesome have been writing and rehearsing a nice set of great songs (with inspirations coming from Tegan And Sara, Cranberries, Newton Faulkner, Gregory & The Hawk, Bon Iver, suzanne Vega, Fleetwood Mac, and then some), which they've not only brought out through numerous live appearances, but of which they now also recorded 11 for the benefit of their debut album.

The girls' music is in essence a 3-way acoustic guitar basis, but in the studio they've added piano and/ or keyboards to the great majority of the songs (that a task divided between Jordan and Joanna), and occasionally add some soft electric guitar, bass (that a task only for Jorja), as well as some drums (again Jordan and Joanna) and percussion (all). All of the girls take on the lead vocals role, which gives the songs subtle differences in that department, even if they all use the similar soft-romantic style. Lyrics are refreshingly and heartwarmingly romantic, as one might expect from “innocent” young ladies at the age of 19. In my search for material for the reader to listen to, I regretfully came across snippets only at the band's pages at facebook and SoundCloud, but there's a possibility (sorry for not checking properly) that the two remixes (off two singles) posted at the band's own website (http://) onesixthoftommy are full-length. For more snippets of the album songs, check Amazon and other trusted online sales websites, okay?

92/100
