Hardcore band Mother Of Mercy will be making their debut for the Bridge Nine Records label in January with “IV: Symptoms of Existence”. The band plays kind of trashy metallic hardcore. Not really something rare as there are a lot of these bands that dedicate themselves to this scene, but not many of them do it quite as well as this Philadelphia quintet by playing faster and more aggressive than the average hardcore band.
You will get that upon hearing opening track “Forever Night, Forever Mourning” witch starts brutal and sets the tempo for the rest to come. The second half of the record shows no sign of change, there are some tempo changes throughout the songs to come, but complement the previous songs more then they stand out on there selves.
This is where it will set apart fans (from the band and the genre) and outsiders. Fans will find this brilliant others will find it strange that a record where a band plays a simple riff that almost sounds the same on every song has so much success. This is a brilliant piece of hardcore, but it does lack variation to stand out on its own in the whole metal scene.
