Panzerbastard may sound like a name for a German rockabilly band, but nevertheless, this is not a bunch of German skinheads. Panzerbastard stands for a Boston metallic hardcore-punk band.
From the first song on, which is called Life Waster, the hardcore influences are very clear. They say their main influence is the mighty black metal band, Celtic Frost, but it is hard to find any similarity in their music. I rather think of newer bands, such as Trap Them, Nails or even New Lows, three bands who combine death/black metal and hardcore almost to perfection.
The second song, Centurion, the song which needed to get its own album release and which forms the foundation of this release, is much more down-tempo, but in this song, the Celtic Frost influences become clearer. It sounds a bit more like doom metal.
To express their true love for Celtic Frost, they decided to add two covers to Centurion. This is the B-side of the album, called Into The Panzermonium, which is a very well-chosen name, I think.
Fans of death, black, thrash or even hardcore punk could really love this band. The only negative thing about this release, is the ugly cover. Death n’ roll baby, death n’ roll !
