Another re-release of a long lost gem.  This record was originally released in 2008 via the Vivid Sound label and only in Japan.  I don’t know when the tracks were originally written or recorded, but since the album is called ‘The Missing Years’, I guess they date back to the late eighties, early nineties.

While the opening track ‘Run Backtends more toward AOR, the next two songs have more of a West Coast sound to them.
It’s not a bad album, but to my liking it’s a bit too mellowy, not rocking enough.  Some of the material on this album could just as easily have been performed by Richard Marx, to name but one artist.  Which is hardly surprising, since Mr. Roberts wrote songs for a lot of musicians, of which not all made it on an album.

So although being a bit too soft to my liking, The album does get good marks, since the songs themselves are well performed, and the production is also rather good.

68/100
