Incubus is an American rock band that comes from California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist Brandon Boyd, lead guitarist Mike Einziger, and drummer Jose Pasillas, when they still were enrolled in high school. Later on, the band expanded with bassist Alex Katunnich and Gavin Koppel who both are replaced by bassist Ben Kenny and DJ Kilmore.
The band has achieved lots of success. They reached several platinum record sales, as well as releasing several highly successful singles. But they didn’t earned mainstream recognition until the release of their 1999 album Make Yourself in 2001. The band recently delivered a seventh album called “If Not Now, When?”, which was released on July 12, 2011.
But unfortunately, this isn’t the album fans are waiting for. The album doesn’t make any sense. It sounds kitschy and almost has nothing to do with rock, it sounds like it is some experimental indie band. It doesn’t rock, it’s to soft for that, just some ballads on 1 record. Although that proves that the band has grown more mature since the last record. But knowing this once was a big rock band, that just made this, doesn’t really impress me or anyone else.
Some people say change is good, can’t argue with that. But let those people listen to this record and you probably will win the discussion. The album itself (apart from being a completely totally different genre than the band used to play) isn’t that bad. Songs are ok, has some tunes that aren’t to bad and probably will sell due to the bands name on it. But it will disappoint a lot of people.

62/100
