| CD REVIEW Niels Vejlyt |

Band : Niels Vejlyt I had never heard of the man before, but it turned out that he’s the guitarist and driving force behind metal outfit Infinity Overture. Besides that it turns out he also has been releasing numerous instructional DVD’s, books, and even has an online guitar school. This album is his first ever solo release. The album contains 8 instrumental tracks varying in length between 3 and a half minutes up to more than 9 minutes. Yet what makes the album less digestible to me is the just the fact that it’s an all instrumental album. The man knows how to play a guitar in diverse ways, that’s a fact that cannot be denied. He’s also surrounded himself with some other good musicians. There’s also a good variation in style between the songs. But I cannot help it that I’m partly allergic to albums that are completely instrumental. One way or another I find they start to bore me after a few songs, no matter how diverse they may be. And that’s just what happened while listening to this album as well. Maybe I should consider playing two songs of it in a row, and then going to another album, and then again two songs from this album? I don’t know for sure, but this might make me give a better rating to this album; 65/100 Erik Morren. |
