| CD REVIEW Stormhunter |
Band : Stormhunter An enjoyable slab of prime time heavy metal from a band well versed in their trade. Traditional heavy metal is the métier of German Stormhunter and like several young bands these days they are breathing the air directly from the Eighties, with heavy influences by the likes of Running Wild, Grim Reaper, early Helloween, Grave Digger,ect….., which in combination with the fact that if someone played a song of the band to you, you probably will not recognize it as Stormhunter right away, leads to the age-old question, if we need another band that plays this sound. Opener “Last words” doesn’t leave any room for doubt as to who this quartet’s influences are, as the teutonic metal band Running Wild shine through right off the bat in the guitar melodies, even though the vocals are deeper and a bit rougher than the role models, adding a little Warrant and Warlock in the riffing as well. "Knights of metal", “Inner demon” or "The final battle” are full of raw power and even though the material is rather simple, the compositions are fun in a more primordial way. And they have an eye opener in Julia, their female bassplayer. 78/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
