The Rain I Bleed is a female-fronted metal band from Greece. The best part about this band is that it features Jonas Kjellgren of Scar Symmetry and the almighty Jeff Loomis of Nevermore. 2 guitar players that already made their mark in the genre.
Although big names under this banner, they actually surprise everyone with their almost “simple” guitar work. Instead of shred, the band tends to be more in the way like Within Temptation or even Evanescence. Also there is the obligatory keyboard and electronic elements that are standard for this genre. Not bad, but certainly nothing new.
The strengths of the album are the production (witch is top notch) and the guitars. Considering who is playing them, it doesn’t surprise me why those are the 2 strengths of the record. But the bigger picture doesn’t really cut it for me. It can’t keep my attention and the female vocals lack variation.
