Everybody knows that Epitaph is a label that launched the career of more than many punkrockbands worldwide. One of the more recent additions to the family is a band called .Letlive. The fivesome from Los Angeles firstly released their third full length Fake History in 2010 on Tragic Hero and they got raving reviews claiming Fake History to be the post hardcore record of the year 2010. Now they are re-releasing that same record with three additional tracks to the original album, two B-sides and one new song produced by Epitaph-mogul Brett Gurewitz. Although the band has been compared to Glassjaw or At The Drive-in before, they don’t copy the sound of those bands. The choruses are catchy and easy to sing along to and even if you wouldn’t pay attention to the lyrics, you’d still feel that there’s a deeper thought behind the music. There are some surprises on the album as well, like for example the acoustic guitars on “Homeless Jazz”. This is not at all what you would expect from a post hardcore band like .Letlive, but in some way, it actually works very well! So if you are in for a fresh look on the post hardcore experience, ‘Fake History’ might just be what you are looking for!
