German punk rock band “Red Tape Parade” is back with its second album entitled “The Third Rail Of Life”. For people who missed their first album and have no idea who these guys are or what they sound like, they can easily be compared to bands like Good riddance, farside, lagwagon and boysetsfire.
This record is one that actually starts really bad but gets better and better towards the end. No I’m not being a jerk, I do believe in the talent of these guys and certainly do not question their talent. I’m not saying that the album lasts to long or that only the last song is a good one. The thing is when listening to opening track called “Always stubborn, sometimes hateful” you’ll quickly discover that the singer of this band has a strange nasal voice (a bit like Dave Mustaine from Megadeth, but far more worse).
During that opening track you pray that the rest of the album doesn’t get ruined by this voice, and luckily prayers do get answered from time to time. The rest of the album everything including the vocals falls in place and it turns into a typical and normal punk rock band. Nothing bad, nothing special, just fairly good music.
70/100
