A couple of years ago, a new band arose out of the metal depths of the ever-charming Austria. At the time, Sole Method was able to shake the earth with two striking albums and now they're back with a new boundary breaking example of pure metal: The Way Of The Descent. On this new record, Sole Method clearly knows where the great success stories are to be found: the United States of America of course! The influences of nu-metal are clearly recognisable in almost every song on The Way Of The Descent. This is certainly not to be blamed, certainly because some other bands should try to do this a bit more, but it's just the incredible harmony between this genre and bone hard trash metal and some loud death metal. It sometimes seems that this was done to bring the album really to life, because if it depended only on the guitar work, it would all have been a bit lame, to be honest. The guitars are not to be left alone though. The vocals are not quite as convincing as expected either, which is a big shame, because The Way Of The Descent could have been a promising album of an even more promising band.
Despite this opinion I wanted to share with you, Sole Method has a free ticket to do something about this. As far as I'm concerned, I'm already waiting for some new material.
