Band : No Way out From Madness Info on this Ravenna area based Italian Post Screamo Hardcore act (they're actually from the smaller town of Alfonsine, situated some 15 km NW from that bigger and more important N-Italian city) is somewhat scarce to say the least. Formed in 2008 with the current line-up of lead singer/ guitarist Daniele “Fakka” Faccani, guitarist Patrick Paterniani, bassist Dani and drummer Emanuele “Max” Faccani, the band swiftly recorded the 4-track (plus intro) EP The Furious Live Here which they self-released that same year. Live promotion for the EP was done by a first Italian tour before heading out of Italy for some “European” dates. For the material of their debut full-length, the band (whom have apparently seen a change at the bass position with Sergio Marmolino now wielding that axe, as well as adding backing vocals) simply decided to re-record their EP (including the intro) and add 5 new songs, which they recorded at Studio 73 with one Riccardo Pasini. Stylistically, there's still quite a bit of Emo in the way the guys often alternate the lead singer's mostly clean lead vocals with the emotionally screamed (vomit-style) backings provided by Marmolino...but there's a couple of songs in which the guys bring a different take on the vocal soundscape, with passages which are either clean throughout, or dual rough (the lead singer apparently is the recipient of a very nice growl indeed). Musically, the band holds onto a somewhat progressive Hardcore, occasionally interlacing the guitar parts with a calmer passage, goin' albeit acoustic. This brings variation in the whole, much needed as the band tends to repeat somewhat faster-paced passages somewhat...to personally boring me somewhat. I lóve it when the guys go sound-experimenting somewhat, like in the opening passage of “Virus” (for which a video was recently recorded), and in the piano-based opening of album closer “My Hero”. Ach well...you know what, maybe you should check out the band's music for yourself, eh? NWOFM has several pages on the Internet, and by combining what posted there, you get to hear 6 tracks in total and get to see the video to one of 'em to boot (4 songs are on the MySpace page, an additional one plus a newly made video is on ReverbNation, another track one's on PureVolume, and at YouTube you can find even more videos, plus a tour diary. The band also has a facebook, for those who are interested. Speaking about you interest, and its possibly been tickled by what you can listen to on the internet...the band is out on a UK tour right now, with dates running until the 25th of June. Following a home gig, the band then travels all the way to the US of A for a short tour of the South-West (Texas, Arizona, California). Check 'em out if you can! 85/100 Tony. |
