What the f..k is this, I thought, when I first played this CD.  It opens with what can only be called a classical intro, to continue with a song that opens with some sort of pleasure fair song, followed by an overpowering, very fast paced transition piece, that’s packed with heavy guitars, great sounding keyboards, and earth shattering drumwork. Somewhere in the middle of the second song the keyboard sound like a church organ, and are followed by a little part that’s sung by a choir is seems.

As a matter of fact, whilst I was at first a bit skeptical if this album would be any good, after a few spins I each time discovered yet another musical layer.  So to say that this is not really an easy album is quite an understatement.  But, even after one or two spins, you hear the quality this album offers.  I even discovered some jazz elements in some of the songs. Being led by Oliver Palotai, whom you might know from Kamelot, the band’s vocalist is Henning Basse, who started out in Metalium.  You also get to hear Simone Simons, Epica’s voice on this album, which is no wonder, since she’s married to Oliver.  The only change in the band since their previous release is new guitarist Pepe Pierez.

This is an album I liked very much.
