Release Date : 01/10/2010
Review : CDEP
With a sound that pays equal homage to '70s rock, metal and 90s alternative rock, Kamikaze Test Pilots throw influences like Queens Of The Stoneage, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who and Curtis Mayfield into the musical blender with a measure of Afro-funk attitude.
Bros Wes and Ryan, Andy and Simon showcase their edge for varied rock with tracks such as “Kenny Rogers (with a gun)” with Faith No More lines, “Chikken” with some funky Flea bass slapping and grungey “The journey” as well as balladry with the short acoustic “Betterway”. The vocals could have been better, but they should not scare anyone away. It's their songs that are catchy enough to pull you in, making Diaspora a fairly good representation of the band's ability to create catchy material and prove themselves as good and versatile musicians. Regardless, this debut CDEP is certainly entertaining enough. Even if it never really grabs you, it never bores you either.
