He may be a prolific bass player, this Dino Fiorenza, but this album does not give me a whaoow feeling.  It’s a mish mash of styles, with a predominance of funk, a genre I don’t really like.  Besides funk there are also yazzy influences, another genre I don’t really fancy. Although at times these songs, and the way they’re played do remind me a bit of Steve Vai, after two songs I already got bored.  It’s just too much of the same.  This guy should meet one of our national musical heroes Toots Thielemans, and I think they’d get along quite well.
To top it of, it’s, maybe understandingly, a complete instrumental album, another thing that is not really my cup of tea.
You can hear that the guy is a virtuoso, and knows his world music, and also that he’s got the help of lots of other music virtuoso’s, but that’s about it.  An album I’ll soon forget, and probably will never play again.

50/100
