CD REVIEW Dishammer

Band: Dishammer
Title: Vintage Addiction
Label: Hells Headbangers Records
Distribution: Hells Headbangers Records
Release date: May 24th 2011
Review: CD / 12”EP (re-release)

Shortly after the recording and release of the roughly mixed debut demo, Dishammer launched Vintage Addiction – up till now the only ‘full’ album (even though it lasts for just less than half an hour). The band did release a mini-album, a split, a 7” single and a compilation in mean time, and in order to promote the upcoming second full length later this year (even though I cannot find any additional information), this debut gets re-issued.
Vintage Addiction, just like all other Dishammer-material, brings a raw and punky form of primitive (Black) Metal with a Thrash’n’Roll-approach. Eighties and early nineties, diabolism and leather’n’spikes, retro-vintage and tradition; why does it bring bands like Discharge, Aura Noir, Nifelheim, GBH, Darkthrone, Amebix and Venom to mind, including a subtle hint of speed-up (NWOB) Heavy / Speed Metal, one might wonder…
Vintage Addiction is all of this, yet as persuasive as the bands mentioned above. It’s energetic stuff, straight-forward an uncompromising, and with the necessary variation to stay interesting. Of course, the main parts are rather fast and intense, but there’s no fear to slow down from time to time, without losing the slightly catchy rocking vibes from the Dark Side.
Fun!
