Road To Consciousness is the latest project of Bernard Daubresse. But the only difference between this project and any other is the fact that “the band” counts 21 artists. That’s right, 21 artists with several big names in this line up like: Yves Huts, Laura Crowet, Ville Laaksonen, and many many more.
Although a very poor website, myspace and facebook, it isn’t that hard to find out that this is a concept album witch covers several adventures we all have. For example adventures/songs about life, death, religion. Not very original, especially not in the metal scene. But due to the time and effort of so much artists that has been put in this record, it pays off.
The best part of this record can be found in it’s consistency. The genre itself isn’t really my thing, but because the songs actually are very consistent in style and the way they are brought, this was something I could enjoy. Projects with so many artists tend to get messy and chaotic, but that’s not something you can say about this album.
This is a symphonic metal record, so not everyone will like this, and the ones that do appreciate this part of the metal scene, will most likely feel that this sounds like Epica, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation (just to name a few). But it might sound a bit to much like those bands perhaps, as you’ll probably feel a lack of originality on this record. Quality is top, just like the musicianship on this record, but that’s it actually.
71/100
