Band : The Dawn Band The Dawn Band throw influences like Queens Of The Stoneage, Led Zeppelin, Slut, The Notwist and Motorpsycho into the musical blender with a measure of pop attitude. Daniel Zerndl (Hainloose) and Martin Treppesch and several guest musicians showcase their edge for indie rock with tracks such as “Lost soul at the midnight club” with almost Millionaire-break up rhythms, the glass harp spraying of “Slowly dancing”, the breathy and brilliant “Kussnacht”, the sonorous and bittersweet "Amour’s ark", the longest Sonic Youth-like “Surfing the big wave”, the music possesses an immense scope. All the songs are structured nicely, letting the music flow smoothly all the way. It's their songs that are catchy enough to pull you in, making Agents Of Sentimentaliy a fairly good representation of the band's ability to create catchy material and prove themselves as good and versatile musicians. Regardless, this debut is certainly entertaining enough. Even if it never really grabs you, it never bores you either. And it’s 10 000 better than the previous Elektrohasch misstep DxBxSx 85/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
