Band: Azarath Witching Hour, about to become the leading label from Poland when it comes to the most extreme and most obscure forms of Metal, and now they did sign Azarath as well (after their contract with Agonia came to an end). A new album with a total running time of forty five minutes, this time recorded with the great Wieslawski-brother-duo Wojtek and Slawek at the über-famous Hertz Studio (Dies Irae, Vader, Crionics, Hate, Calm Hatchery etc.), released on both compact disc and vinyl, and finalised with some new members, amongst whom Necrosodom (Thunderbolt / Throneum / Anima Damnata)… The album brings nothing new – why should it? – which means: Black-edged Death Metal with misanthropic, blasting and occult spheres / elements as from the beginning to the very end. Melody and brutality, morbidity and atmosphere, Blasphemers’ Maledictions is a rather logical continuation on 2009’s Praise The Beast (Agonia, as said before, released on May 25th 2009), yet the whole sounds much more sinister and blaspheme, both musically and vocally – which I do appreciate a lot, of course. For sure this album might be Azarath’s most intense and bloody recording to date, even though it does not differ that much from any past effort. I just do notice the increased deadliness, focused on abyssal and suffocative grimness more than once before, and it isn’t but another surplus to lift this band on top of Poland’s extremest regions. …without losing attention for melody and craftsmanship in any aspect… In spite of lacking any renewing element, Blasphemers’ Maledictions might be one of the strongest releases from East-Europe this year, and therefore: HAIL! 87/100 Ivan Tibos. |
